  • I loved The Host and was hoping that the new trend of good monster movie making would extend to Cloverfield. Now I know it will surpass my expectations.

  • Fantastic essay, I loved the history of monster movies and particularly the juxtaposition with Lovecraft's quote. I do think, however, that like Japan's use of Godzilla to engage the topic of atomic catastrophe, Cloverfield most certainly engages 9/11 (in an intelligent way).
